What inspires her: “My family and nature. My family is a constant source of motivation, and nature reminds me of the bigger picture.”
Why did you choose to work at the legislature?
Like many people I’ve met in legislative service, I didn’t intentionally set out to work for the legislature. Instead, a personal connection led me to the world of legislative audit. And now that I’m here, I’ve continued to stay because I believe in the work we do and its broader impact. I love being part of a nonpartisan, fact-finding agency that serves policymakers.
What skill or talent are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of my knack for considering issues from multiple perspectives before acting. Issues exist on a spectrum and are so very rarely clear cut. I strive to recognize that context in all that I do.
What’s the best advice you were ever given?
The serenity prayer provides words of wisdom that I remind myself of often. I like to be in control so it’s a good reminder to relax and go with the flow even when things don’t go according to my (of course perfect and meticulously constructed) plans.
What’s one thing you love about your state?
How easy it is to get around! After traveling across the U.S., I’ve come to appreciate my commute and the distinct lack of traffic. (And the people aren’t bad either. 😊)
What are you currently reading/listening to/watching?
For professional development and personal growth: I’m currently rereading “Good Authority: How to Become the Leader Your Team Is Waiting For,” by Jonathan Raymond, and “Love Warrior,” by Glennon Doyle
For fun: I’m trying to learn more about whiskey. The Whiskey Tribe on YouTube has been educational and quite entertaining.
