The NCSL Blog

As we start the wind down of 2014 we finish up the year with our final quarterly Early Care and Education e-update.

This edition of the e-update takes a look at some new and recently updated web pages, gives a little shout out to NCSL’s Early Learning Fellows, and summarizes a report on the intersection of health and early learning.

We wrap up with a brief federal update about the recent Child Care and Development Block Grant reauthorization and provide an impressive list of additional resources.

The Early Care and Education e-update is created quarterly as an information service for state legislators and legislative staff who are part of NCSL's Child Care and Early Education Legislative Network. Outside links are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute an endorsement by NCSL.

We wish our readership a happy and healthy holiday season and we look forward to continuing to produce our Early Care and Education e-update in 2015. The winter 2015 edition is due out mid-February.

Remember, NCSL and the Early Care and Education team are here for you specifically focusing on policy topics such as brain science and research, early childhood literacy, prekindergarten and school readiness, early childhood workforce and much more.

Alison May is a staff coordinator in NCSL’s Children and Families program.
