We're expecting 6,000 legislators, legislative staffers, business representatives, government officials, union members, foundation representatives and others interested in public policy.

When should I arrive?

How long should I stay?
Plan on staying through Saturday, July 26. That way you can attend the spectacular closing party on Friday night, and on Saturday hear a provocative speaker, take advantage of some opportunities for volunteer activities if you like, and venture deep into the Louisiana bayous aboard a flatboat to see alligators.

What is States' Night?
States' Night is an opportunity for delegates from each state to get together to compare notes, catch up on the week's activities and enjoy the sites of New Orleans. States' Night this year is Thursday, July 24. It is coordinated by state delegations, not by NCSL.

Is this an annual meeting or a legislative summit?
The answer is both! Up until 2007, the meeting was referred to as NCSL’s Annual Meeting and Exhibition. While we now market it as NCSL’s Legislative Summit, it is the official annual meeting for America’s state legislators and legislative staff.
