Polls Show Strong Support for Minimum Wage Increases

October 31, 2006

Initiatives to increase the minimum wage are on the ballot in six states on November 7, and all six are enjoying strong support in pre-election polls.  A national survey conducted by the Pew Research Center in March 2006 found that 83 percent of Americans favored raising the minimum wage. 

While most of the poll numbers in the states with ballot measures aren’t quite that high, they nonetheless show strong voter support for raising the minimum wage:
