Hurricane Katrina: Health Resources for Recovery Efforts
Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)
HRSAs' primary mission is to improve health access by supporting health care systems with the resources they need to provide quality health care. Since the destruction of Hurricane Katrina occured, HRSA has produced a database containing information on health institutional providers located in the affected areas. Project officers of grantees located in the affected areas will be assisting facilities in making appropriate contacts to reestablish power for operation. In addition to recovery assistance, HRSA has automatically granted a deadline extension for competitive funding opportunities until November 30, 2005 at 5:00 PM ET for applicants located in the counties or parishes in Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi that have been designated by either FEMA or the state Governor as "designated counties". Providers outside these counties who feel they were adversely affected by Katrina may also request and extension by contacting HRSA. |
