Hurricane Katrina: Health Resources for Recovery Efforts

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina state and local governments are faced with a variety of public and private health system challenges. Services in the affected areas are non-existent in some cases or crippled in their ability to meet community needs. Regions outside the affected areas are straining to increase health service capacity in an attempt to care for individuals displaced by events. The federal government and a variety of organizations have produced a number of resource for the public and private sector to aid them in their consequence management efforts.
