President's Budget

President Clinton submitted his proposed budget of $1.835 trillion on February 7, 2000. Under the president's proposed budget, domestic discretionary spending (which includes most state-local grant programs) would increase 4.7 percent from $339 billion to $355 billion. Budget Resolution

On April 13, the House and Senate passed a FY 2001 Budget Resolution, which contained $289.5 billion in domestic discretionary spending, or a decrease of 6 percent. Current Status

When Congress adjourned for the August recess, the House of Representatives had considered and passed all but one appropriations bill; the Senate had five bills pending. Only two had been signed into law. For more information, see:
