Streamlined Sales Tax Implementing States Public Comment Period for Food and Related Definitions Le Meridien Hotel Saturday, March 16, 2002 The Streamlined Sales Tax Implementing States has scheduled two hours for public comment on the proposed uniform definitions for "food", prepared food", "soft drinks", and "candy". The comment period will take place Saturday, March 16th from approximately 10:00am to 12:00 noon. If you wish to testify before the Implementing States' delegates, please fill out the attached form and fax it to the National Conference of State Legislatures: Attention Graham Williams at (202) 737-1069. All those wishing to make a statement must submit written comments by February 27, 2002 so that the statement can be copied and distributed to the delegates for review 10 days before the meeting. Please forward the written comments to Graham Williams at the fax number listed above or via e-mail to graham.williams@ncsl.org. Once the written comments have been submitted, the Co-Chairs will have the discretion to allocate time for oral comments at the meeting according to the number of individuals wishing to comment and the amount of time available.
