NCSL Executive Committee Task Forces

Task Force on State and Local Taxation

Mission

This task force, in its early years, was instrumental in crafting the interstate streamlined sales tax agreement and in assisting state legislatures as they considered implementing the agreement.  It continues the latter function when appropriate and now serves a critical role in overseeing the activities of the streamlined sales tax governing board.  The leaders and members of the task force have been invaluable in lobbying Congress to adopt federal streamlined sales tax legislation.  In addition, the task force continues to consider a variety of issues related to taxation of telecommunications.
