The automobile industry is undergoing a major transformation. New vehicle technologies and new fuels may soon power many of the automobiles we drive. This session reviews the new vehicle technologies and describes state air quality and energy policies related to these vehicle technologies.

Addressing the Problem of Unlicensed and Uninsured Drivers (Room 256 AB)
Unlicensed and uninsured drivers are a major traffic safety concern. About 20 percent of all fatal crashes involve an unlicensed driver while 13 percent of drivers drive with no insurance. This session will examine the issues surrounding unlicensed and uninsured motorists and how the states are responding.

Senior Transportation Mobility (Room 251C)
Individuals over 65 represent the fastest growing segment of the U.S. population. In general, they are safe drivers, but are more likely to suffer serious injuries and death due to frailty. Most states have passed laws to address older driver safety. This session will examine current research regarding older drivers, state laws and transit options for this age group.
