Fighting Internet Fraud: Phishing, Spoofing, Spyware and Cyberquatters Scams and schemes take on new twists and colorful names when on-line. Swindlers spoof the origin of e-mail, create Web sites that appear legitimate, or "cybersquat" on sites using another’s name or trademark. Others use deceptive practices to spy on Internet users or "phish" for personal and financial information.

State and local governments could face reduced revenues due to congressional preemption or just the fact that POTS (plain old telephone service) is becoming less a part of the overall telecommunications market.

Tagged & Tracked: Radio Frequency IDs (RFID)

Tiny tags equipped with wireless tracking devices can be used to collect and store information. Manufacturers value them for tracking merchandise from production into the supply chain. But, privacy advocates fear that RFID tags on merchandise will be used to gather too much personal information about consumers.
