Corporate Taxation: In a Global Economy Can States Do Better? In the current economic downturn, revenues from corporate taxes are falling faster than other state revenues. Corporate taxes account for less than five percent of total state revenue and it now costs states over 40 cents for every dollar collected. Efforts to close loopholes usually end in litigation. Sometimes the only winners are the corporate tax attorneys and the consumer always pays in the end. This session will discuss why the corporate tax system is not working and what to do about it.
