2013 Child Labor Legislation

young workerStates and the federal government share regulation of child labor. States considered a total of 77 child labor-related bills during the 2013 session. Bills were introduced in 23 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico; eight states enacted laws.

Enacted provisions include the employment of minors in the entertainment industry, regulation of the use of youths as sports officials, development of programs to promote employment opportunities for youth, streamlined work permit processes, and expansion of allowable places for minors to work, to conform to federal law.

ALABAMA
