Fiscal 50: State Trends and Analysis

Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 | 3 p.m. ET

This webinar will introduce Pew’s Fiscal 50: State Trends and Analysis, an interactive tool that allows you to sort and analyze data on key fiscal, economic, and demographic trends in the 50 states and understand their impact on your state’s long-term fiscal health.

Fiscal 50 presents selected data and analyses that help states think outside of the annual budget bubble, size up their progress over time, consider different ways to measure performance, and easily compare their outcomes to neighboring or peer states that have similar resources and challenges. It includes regularly updated indicators in five core areas essential to states’ fiscal health: revenue, spending, economy and people, long-term costs, and fiscal policy.

This webinar will show attendees how to use the tool to gain insight into their state’s fiscal strengths, challenges, and long-term financial well-being and to compare their state over time, with other states, or with national trends. Presenters will explain why these metrics offer special insights into state finances.
