Meeting Purpose

The first ever meeting of NCSL’s Nuclear Legislative Workgroup brought together legislators from across the country who play a role in the clean-up of the nation's nuclear sites, host nuclear facilities, or are affected by the transportation of nuclear materials. Participants heard from federal officials and industry leaders about important nuclear energy and waste management issues, events following the Japan nuclear crisis, current U.S. Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency activities, and recent reports from the Blue Ribbon Commission on America’s Nuclear Future.
