On March 4, 2014, President Obama released his Fiscal Year 2015 budget to fund the federal government. The FY 2015 budget plan totals $3.9 trillion in outlays, a $250 billion increase over current estimates for FY 2014. Related to the NRI Committee, within the President's request was:

  • The creation of a $1 billion Climate Resiliency Fund to aid communities in disaster relief, droughts, and other effects caused by climate change;
  • Establishing reforms in wildfire suppression costs by creating an emergency dedicated source of funding outside of discretionary budget caps for USDA and Interior’s wild land fire suppression. This would allow the existing wildfire funds to be used for prevention purposes.

On Jan. 17, 2014 President Barack Obama signed into law the $1.1 trillion omnibus legislation that will fund the federal government for Fiscla Year 2014. The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2014 combines all 12 appropriation bills that will fund the federal government through Fiscal Year 2014 and is an increase of $45 billion in comparison to FY 2013 levels, post sequestration.
