Dual status youth are those involved in both state child welfare and juvenile justice systems. Their history of abuse and neglect present unique challenges for states. Lawmakers are implementing reforms to better understand the impact of the harm committed against dual status youth and to interrupt their path toward delinquent and criminal behavior. This session will examine coordinated, multi-system integration practices, policies and legislation that improve outcomes for dual status youth.
