Civic Education:  States Take Action in 2004!


Kentucky passes a resolution establishing a committee to convene a "Summit for Civic Literacy" aimed at enhancing long-term civic engagement and literacy in young people. http://www.lrc.state.ky.us/record/04rs/SJ80.htm

Utah passes legislation providing recognition of the fundamental civic purpose and constitutional responsibility of public education and requires the teaching of Civic and Character Education in connection with regular school work.
