Introduction
Taking America's Ideas to Capitol Hill...
Our nation's direction in the new century is in the hands of the states. The challenges of the future, the social and economic health of our communities, the fundamental choices we make are all the work of state lawmakers. In an era when state policies are inextricably entwined with federal decisions, NCSL's winter meeting for state legislators and staff is an unparalleled opportunity to help set the course for the innovative, successful answers to citizens' concerns.

What are the AFI and ASI?
The Assembly on Federal Issues directs NCSL's lobbying efforts in Washington, D.C. The Assembly on State Issues serves as a major forum for the exchange of ideas and information among state legislatures.

AFI and ASI committee meetings are open to all legislators and staff. Please join us in Washington, D.C., even if you are not a member of these groups, and take this opportunity to participate in many informative sessions.

NCSL serves the legislators and staffs of the nation's 50 states, its commonwealths and territories. NCSL's mission is to improve the quality and effectiveness of state legislatures, foster interstate communication and cooperation, and ensure states a strong, cohesive voice in the federal system.
