Convening: The Legislator's Powerful Role
(Cosponsored with the NCSL Legislative Effectiveness Committee)

This workshop will teach you to embrace your role as a convenor to help solve critical problems in both your district and the statehouse. Convening people to work through a problem is a crucial leadership skill that is applicable to any issue.  Experienced faculty will lead you in learning the principles and best practices and then applying them to real-life examples.

What Is the Financial Status of American Women? Perception vs. Reality

Faculty: Marsha A. Goetting, Professor and Extension Family Economics Specialist, Agricultural Economics and Economics Department, Montana State University.

Attend this session to learn about the Network's new financial stability initiative.  Dr. Goetting will lead an interactive workshop that will inspire you to join the Network as we develop tools and resources to aid women legislators in becoming leaders in this issue area.

(Program cosponsored with the Center for American Women and Politics, the Center for Women Poclity Studies, Women in Government and the Women Legislators' Lobby.

The Women of the Storm are a grassroots advocacy group of Louisiana women dedicated to restoring and revitalizing their communities after hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  Come hear their stories, meet with colleagues from around the country, and participate in the Network's annual elections.

Volunteer Opportunity - Second Harvest Food Bank

NCSL is proud to partner with Second Harvest Food Bank of New Orleans. Stop by the NCSL "Can" Make a Difference booth in the main lobby of the Convention Center to learn more about hunger in Southern Louisiana, purchase pantry items from our virtual food drive, and sign up to work on Saturday at the facility warehouse.  All ages and family participation welcome!
