2008 Caucus Annual Meeting
The National Caucus of Native American State Legislators held their annual meeting in June. Agenda items included a roundtable dinner discussion with invited Tribal Leaders from around the country and discussions on civic engagement, economic development, education and chronic disease.
In addition to the above sessions, the Caucus adopted 13 policy resolutions addressing wage discrimination, greenhouse gas, chronic disease and language preservation among other things. All of the resolutions can be viewed at http://www.nativeamericanlegislators.org/.
The caucus meeting was supported by Biotechnology Industry Organization, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Thomson West, a Reuters Business and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation

The Education Committee of the National Caucus of Native American State Legislators along with Governor Schweitzer of Montana held an invitational summit to address the achievement gap for American Indian/Alaska Native students, on September 28-29, 2007 in Helena, Montana.
