Many American families work hard and play by the rules but still struggle against financial insecurity and a real lack of opportunity. Since 2002, The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) / Annie E. Casey Foundation (AECF) Partnership on Family Economic Success has assisted legislators who want to create more opportunities for working families to succeed.
By providing up-to-date information and policy expertise, the partnership helps legislators explore ways to brighten the future for economically vulnerable children and families. Because this effort doesn't fit into a single agency or committee, the partnership connects legislators with experts from different fields and leaders at the local, state and national level. The result: innovative, efficient solutions that help families help themselves.
From economic and workforce development to education, financial and human services, and budget, tax and transportation, the NCSL / AECF partnership is getting the word out that collaboration among committees and programs, and also between political parties, can inspire policies and community initiatives that lead to positive results for working families.
Whether you need information on your state's Earned Income Tax Credit policy, are interested in strategies that encourage families to save and spend wisely, or would like to know more about asset building - we can help.
The centerpiece of NCSL's Family Economic Success project is our annual 'Opportunities For Working Families' leadership forum. Learn more about the forums and view presentations from past meetings here.
