1998 State Legislative Summary on Children, Youth and Family Issues

Public concern for children continues to grow: major domestic problems, child abuse, juvenile delinquency, welfare … all seriously affect the nation's children.. In response, state lawmakers are looking at ways to craft public policy that strengthens families and protects at-risk children, while streamlining state services.

The State Legislative Summary on Children, Youth and Family Issues, published annually by the National Conference of State Legislatures, documents emerging trends and innovative policies in states legislatures for 1995 and compiles summaries of newly enacted state legislation in:

  • Abuse and Neglect
  • Child Care and Early Childhood Education
  • Child Mental Health
  • Child Support Enforcement
  • Child Welfare
  • Family Law
  • General Children, Youth and Families
  • Juvenile Justice
  • Substance Abuse and Control
  • Welfare Reform and Public Assistance
  • Youth-at-Risk

State Legislative Summary on Children, Youth and Family Issues is available for $25 through NCSL's Marketing Department, calling (303) 364-7700 or sending e-mail to books@ncsl.org. Visa, MasterCard and American Express are accepted.
