Sheila McCant

Ms. McCant has worked for the Louisiana House of Representatives since 1976. In 1993 she was charged with establishing a non-partisan public information office for the House which provides both public information and media relations services for the members and institution. Since that time the office has expanded to include civic education initiatives and has been recognized by the Southern Public Relations Federation on four occasions for various programs and projects, including a 2001 Lantern Award of Excellence shared with the Louisiana Senate Communication Office for their public relations program for America's Legislators Back to School Day.
In 1997 she worked with three other NCSL staff section members initiating the creation of the Legislative Information and Communications Staff Section (LINCS), the first staff section to be approved by NCSL in 20 years. She is the immediate past chair of LINCS.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Louisiana State University.
