WASHINGTON, D.C. - The National Conference of State Legislatures will hold a press conference on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 to release a series of recommendations for changes to the No Child Left Behind Act.

- To determine how NCLB is affecting public education.
- To identify the challenges for state legislatures in implementing the law.
- To suggest regulatory and legislative changes to help states meet the law's laudable goals.
- To identify successful, cost-efficient approaches to compliance that states have already developed.
- To ensure that federal funding is commensurate with the requirements of the law, preventing undue fiscal burdens on states.
