NEWS RELEASE: State Lawmakers Compete in "Tour de Salt Lake" Fitness
Challenge July 23, 2004 State lawmakers from
around the country were counting their steps this week in the first
ever legislative fitness challenge. In an effort to raise
awareness about the benefits of physical activity, state legislators
were issued pedometers with which they could measure the number of
steps they took during NCSL's Annual Meeting. The legislator
who logged the most steps would have $1,000 donated to a charity on
their behalf.

states approved changes to their Medicare-related pharmaceutical

Another four states approved laws dealing with lower-cost Canadian
