NCSL's Health Policy Tracking Service to Be Acquired by NETSCAN iPublishing, Inc.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The National Conference of State Legislatures has announced that its highly-acclaimed Health Policy Tracking Service will be acquired by NETSCAN iPublishing, Inc. of Falls Church, Virginia as of January 1, 2004.

"NCSL's Health Policy Tracking Service has become an industry leader in state health policy analysis" said William Pound, NCSL executive director. "This partnership with NETSCAN will allow the Health Policy Tracking Service to better serve the nation's state lawmakers as well as their private sector clients."

NETSCAN iPublishing is the most advanced provider of state legislative and regulatory information. Their information tracking services, RegAlert, LegAlert and PUCAlert provide the most current and comprehensive 50 state regulatory, legislative and public utility commission information available.

"NETSCAN is excited about the opportunity to serve the health policy community through HPTS and its health oriented Legislation to Watch, Charts on Major Actions, Issue Briefs, Snapshots and other publications," Harvey Golomb, NETSCAN President and CEO said. "Since NETSCAN already services many of HPTS' clients with its legislative and regulatory tracking services, HPTS' analysis and content, which is unmatched in the industry, is a great addition to the NETSCAN product."

NCSL's Health Policy Tracking Service systemically collects, monitors and reports on significant state actions that impact critical health care policies and programs. HPTS staff conduct objective bill analysis, comprehensive issue-oriented research and provide insightful technical assistance. Their information and analyses are available through an online database and are arranged in five categories: behavioral health, health insurance, Medicaid, pharmaceuticals and providers. Additionally, HPTS offers Issue Briefs on over 40 health-related topics, research project services and several annual publications. HPTS services will continue to be offered to state legislators and legislative staff free of charge.

NCSL is the bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the states, commonwealths and territories. They provide research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues and is an effective and respected advocate for the interests of the states in the American federal system.
