Fall Training Conference

The NLPES Annual Training Conference is held in the fall. The location is determined in advance by the NLPES's executive committee with input from NCSL. Decisions on meeting location consider the availability of airport transportation, price of local hotel and conference facilities and the potential for attracting attendees. The NLPES executive committee accepts bids throughout the year from legislative evaluation agencies interested in hosting the Annual Conference. The NLPES, together with the host legislative agency are the primary planners of the conference agenda: they are responsible for recruiting faculty and for making sure that all materials for the seminar are prepared. The budget for the seminar is based entirely on its registration fees. The budget usually provides for travel expenses and small honorariums for three to four faculty. Hotel contracts, facilities and meals are negotiated by NCSL's seminar staff.
