Annual Business Meeting Minutes
July 24, 2003, San Francisco, CA
Heather Moritz, Chair, called the meeting to order at 12:35 p.m. She introduced the members of the 2002-2003 NLPES executive committee and thanked them for their service. She also introduced the new executive committee members, past committee chairpersons, and others.
Martha Carter, chair of the awards committee, presented awards to: The Kansas Legislative Division of Post Audit and the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission, for Excellence in Program Evaluation and to the Minnesota Office of the Legislative Auditor, for Excellence in Research Methods. She also presented 23 offices with recognition of impact certificates. Heather presented Roger Brooks, former Deputy Director of the Minnesota Office of the Legislative Auditor, with the Outstanding Achievement Award.
Kate Wade, incoming NLPES executive committee chair, presented Heather with a plaque to recognize her year of service as committee chair. Kate also described plans for the work of NLPES in the coming year and solicited ideas from the membership for ways to make NLPES more useful to members' offices.
Gary Olson (MI), NCSL staff chair, and Max Arinder (MS), incoming staff chair, thanked NLPES members for their contributions to NCSL and briefly discussed NCSL's legislative staff agenda. Max also introduced incoming staff vice-chair James Greenwalt (MN).
The meeting was adjourned at 1:50 p.m.
