NLPES Liaisons to Professional Organizations: Statement of Duties
An NLPES liaison to a professional organization will be expected to
do the following:
-
Inform the editor of the NLPES newsletter about upcoming conferences, events,
or activities of the liaison organization that might be of interest to
NLPES members.
-
Inform the NLPES executive committee when there are activities by the organization
that might be of interest to the executive committee or NLPES member agencies
(e.g., exposure drafts of Yellow Book standards, or solicitation of articles
for the organization's publication that address issues related to legislative
program evaluation).
-
Inform the liaison organization of upcoming NLPES meetings and events,
for the possible benefit of the liaison organization's members. It will
be the NLPES liaison's responsibility to determine the best means of communicating
information to members of the liaison organization--through listserves,
newsletters, websites, etc.
-
Ensure that NLPES staff have an up-to-date list of key organizational contacts,
such as the organization's phone and fax numbers, e-mail address, mailing
address, and website address--for the possible benefit of NLPES members.
Liaisons are not expected to have comprehensive membership lists of the
organizations they monitor.
-
Periodically (about once every two years) write an article in the NLPES
newsletter about the organization's activities and current issues. For
the NLPES executive committee's benefit, liaisons may be asked at other
times to prepare brief summaries of the organization's activities and issues.
