About NLPESNLPES Nomination ProcessServing on the Executive Committee provides a unique opportunity to guide the activities of NLPES and further program evaluation in all states. The NLPES Executive Committee directs NLPES efforts relating to the NCSL Annual Meeting, the NLPES Annual Training Conference, and other NLPES programs and activities. Election to the Committee will require travel to three meetings annually and a commitment of time and effort from the members and the member's organization. The Immediate Past Chair seeks candidates from NLPES membership for open positions and assists NCSL staff to conduct the election. Any NLPES member may nominate him or herself or others for open seats on the Executive Committee. The election shall be concluded by April 15 of each year. All persons who are certified as NLPES members by March 1 may vote in the election. All newly-elected members assume their official position at the close of the Annual Business Meeting. The NLPES executive committee selects its own officers. Officer selection takes place at the first business meeting of the new board, typically held just prior to the close of the NCSL Annual Meeting. The vice-chair must be in the first year of a two-year term as he or she automatically assumes the office of chair the following year. The vice-chair assumes the office of chair at the close of the Annual Business Meeting. The secretary-treasurer does not move automatically into the next office. NLPES Executive Committee elections will be concluded on April 15. Please contact Bob Boerner at bob.boerner@ncsl.org or by fax at (303) 364-7800 or by telephone at (303) 364-7700 if you have any questions about the elections. |
