Executive
Committee Meeting Minutes
July 22, 2004, Salt Lake City, Utah.
The Executive Committee convened at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2004, at
the Salt Palace Convention Center. Copies
of handouts discussed during the meeting are kept on file with the NLPES
secretary.
Members present at the meeting were Priscilla Anderson, Martha Carter, Philip
Durgin, Steve Hendrickson, Joe Lawhon, Ken Levine, Wade Melton, Rakesh Mohan,
Tim Osterstock, Manu Patel, Kate Wade and Jan Yamane. Also present was Bob
Boerner (NCSL). Martha chaired the meeting.
Officer elections. Wade Melton was nominated, seconded, and
unanimously approved as NLPES 2004-05 Vice Chair. Philip Durgin was
nominated, seconded, and unanimously approved for a second term as NLPES
Secretary.
Subcommittee assignments. Martha handed out
the subcommittee assignments and subcommittee charges for 2004-05.
State assignments. Martha handed out the state contact
assignments for 2004-05.
Key dates. Martha handed out a sheet containing key dates for
2004-05. Discussion followed regarding the Spring meeting. Options
discussed included in Washington D.C. on April 16 in conjunction with
the Spring Forum, May 14 in conjunction with the LSCC meeting in
Annapolis, or possibly at the NCSL headquarters in
Denver, but no decision was reached.
Date and Site for the Next NLPES Executive Committee Meeting. The
Executive Committee will meet next at 8:30 a.m., on Wednesday, October 27, 2004,
in Tallahassee, FL.
The meeting adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
