APPROPRIATIONS

H.R. 909 This bill provides funding to states to correct Y2k problems in computers that are used to administer state and local government programs.

H.R. 1056 This bill providews a loan guarantee program to address the Year 2000 computer problems of small business concerns.

H.R. 1022 This bill authorizes the Secretary of Commerce to make grants to states to correct Y2K problems in computers that are used to administer State and Local governement programs.

S. 314 This bill provides for a loan guarantee program to address the Y2K computer problems of small businesses.

S.174 This bill provides funding for states to correct Y2K problems in computers that are used to administer state and local government programs.

S.Res. 7 This bill amends Senate Resolution 208 of the 105th Congress to increase funding to the Special Committee on the Y2K Technology-related problem by $600,000.

LIABILITY-RELATED BILLS

Limits on Causes of Actions:
S. 461 This bill sets forth pre-litigation procedures for Year 2000 civil actions and limits contractual and tort claims concerning Year 2000 computer problems.

H.R. 192 This bill establishes judicial and administrative proceedings for the resolution of Y2K processing failures.

S. 96 This bill (1) provides for the orderly resolution of disputes arising out of computer-based problems related to processing Year 2000 date change, (2) specifies that the Act does not apply to actions for personal injury, (3) requires a plaintiff to give a potential defendant notice of the Y2K failure and an opportunity to remedy the failure, and (4) limits the liability of a retailer which ahs sold the product with a Y2K failure when that retailer has no particular expertise in the computer technology field.

S 738 This bill sets forth procedures for and limitations on any litigation arising out of the Year 2000 date change.

H.R. 1319 This bill sets forth procedures for and limitations on any litigation arising out of the Year 2000 date change.

Damages
H.R. 775 This bill establishes certain procedures for civil actions brought for damages relating to the failure of any device or system to process of otherwise dealing with the transition from the year 1999 to 2000.

S. 96 This bill provides that damages in disputes arising out of Y2K computer problems is limited to economic loss, or as provided, may include additional damages and limits the damages which can be awarded against a small business and limits liability to sever, but no joint, liability among defendants.

Due Diligence
S. 96 This bill establishes a good faith defense to a claim arising out of the Y2K computer problem which would limit the damages awarded against a defendant which has made efforts to limit the damage of to remedy the failure to economic damages.

Y2K Good Samaritan
S. 461 This bill assures that innocent users and businesses gain access to solutions to the year 2000 problem-related failures through fastering an incentive to settle year 2000 lawsuits that may disrupt significant sectors of the American economy.

Business Immunity
S. 723 This bill providesregulatory amnestyt for defendants who are unable to comply with federally enforcable requirements because of factors related to a Y2K system failure.

TAX DEDUCTIONS

H.R. 179 This bill allows a deduction from gross income to allow for Y2K computer conversion costs of small businesses and offers small businesses a deduction for the purchase and installation of Y2K compatible hardware and software.

HOLIDAY

H.J.R. 14 This bill designates January 3, 2000 as the day for observance of the New Year holiday and public and technology officials would then be provided "with an additional day, prior to the state of the workweek, to begin repair on failed computer systems caused by the Year 2000 computer problem.
