RACSS will present three programs during the joint meeting
of the ASI/AFI in Washington, D.C. The meeting is being held at the Hyatt
Regency Capitol Hill. Staff should plan on arriving on Tuesday, December
4 to be there in time for Wednesday morning sessions. Registration will
open at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

How do the responsibilities of Congressional staff differ from their
counterparts in state legislatures? This session will explore the
types of services provided to Congressional committees and how Congressional
staffers deal with their complex roles.

NCSL's International Training: Opportunities for Legislative
Staff

Staff from NCSL's International Program will provide an overview of
their activities in providing training for emerging democracies on legislative
procedures and staff support services, as well as covering ways for legislative
staff from the U.S. to participate. Legislative staff who have taken
part in international training programs will share their experiences.

The Impact of Recent U.S. Supreme Court Rulings for the States (CLE)
Congressional B (main lobby level)
The U.S. Supreme Court considered a number of cases during their 2001
term that will have an impact on the states. Learn about the implications
of these decisions on state legislatures, and get a preview of cases pending
before the Court for their 2002 term. This program offers Continuing
Legal Education credits.
