Update on Internet Privacy
Friday, April 30, 2004
Consumers express great concerns about their privacy on the Internet,
but at the same time they are increasingly going online to find information
and make purchases. Marketers are using tools to track online behavior
that are invisible to many Internet users, and most consumers don’t know
about available tools to protect their privacy. This session reviews
the Internet privacy issues that consumers are concerned with and the policy
options being considered and adopted in state legislatures today.

Thursday, December 11, 2003, 12:45 p.m. - 1:15 p.m.
Stopping unwanted and fraudulent e-mail advertising may seem
like an impossible task. But tools are available to fight spam.
Internet service providers and technology companies provide ways
to help consumers fight spam, and are joining them in combating
this shared problem. Regulatory agencies and law enforcement
