John C. Dvorak 
Silicon Spin host John C. Dvorak is a renowned, award-winning analyst in the high tech field.  He is a contributing editor of PC Magazine, where he has been writing two columns, including the popular "Inside Track," since 1986.  Mr. Dvorak has won eight national awards from the Computer Press Association, including best columnist and best column. His radio show, Real Computing, is heard on public radio.

Management/Policy Track: Mobile Computing–Choosing Tools, Setting Policies
Legislators and legislative staff are increasingly demanding portable, reliable, and easy-to-use tools for accessing information from legislative chambers, from capitol or district offices, or wherever they may be.  This session will explore the range of mobile device and wireless options available today as well as what the future holds.  It will also discuss some  "best practices" in deployment and management.

Technical Track: Word Processing Conversion Issues
This session will explore ways of gathering and automatically converting information from many different sources, including text, graphics and multimedia, into a single format, such as XML/SGML.  This session will also present pitfalls to avoid and tips for success when converting between WordPerfect and MSWord.

Roundtable Discussion: NCSL Multi-state Legislative Document Management Project (Joint session with Legislative Research Librarians)
This NCSL project grew out of a need to develop a replacement for TextDBMS software, which is used in several states for bill drafting and other legislative applications.  During this roundtable discussion session, participants will review a draft document standard and will discuss mapping the flow of legislative information as it relates to reuse of the document content.
