| Room 108 | This meeting will provide background information on the Multistate Legislative Document Management Project. The project grew out of a need to develop a replacement for TextDBMS software, which is used in several states for bill drafting or other legislative applications. Participants will discuss the project, consider the needs in various states, and explore ideas for solutions. |

| Room 104 | State legislatures are developing their own applications and using technology in new ways within the legislative process. This session offers an informal, close-up look at information systems in several states, including chamber automation systems, budget tracking data base applications, an online encyclopedia of government programs, and applications that present data in real time over the Internet using Active Server Pages. |

| Room 103/104 | What will voting systems look like ten years from today? There are new options to explore in voting displays and voting systems. This session will look at the new technology in this area and explore how voting systems are being integrated with other legislative information systems. States that have developed their own voting systems will provide insight and experiences for other states to learn from. |

| We are entering into an era where legislators will be increasingly mobile. This session will give a demonstration of the tools that legislators can use in the year 2000–including voice recognition tools, hand-held devices, global positioning systems, videoconferencing, streaming audio and video, and other new technologies. A panel will discuss with the audience how technology is changing expectations, roles, and responsibilities within the legislature. | |
