Uniform Computer Information Transactions Act
The Uniform Computer Information Transactions Act (UCITA) establishes rules for creating, modifying, transferring or licensing computer information including the purchase of computer software, games, online-data bases, multimedia products and the distribution of information on the Internet. UCITA was adopted by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (NCCUSL) in 1999. UCITA was adopted by Maryland and Virginia in 2000. NCCUSL amended UCITA in 2002. At its 112th Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (NCCUSL) discharged the standby committee of the Uniform Computer Information Transactions Act.
