3:00 pm – 6:00 pm Broadband TelePresence Demonstration and Tour of Cisco Participants will visit Cisco’s Phoenix office to see a broadband application that combines advanced audio, true high definition video and interactive elements to create unique, “in-person” experiences between people, places and events over the IP network.

9:15 am - 10:00 am Broadband Case Studies: California's Broadband Task Force Co-Sponsored with the NCSL Communications, Financial Services and Interstate Commerce Committee. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2006 created the California Broadband Initiative to establish broadband networks, to ensure government agencies are using the best technologies to serve the people and to identify and eliminate obstacles to making broadband internet access ubiquitous in the state. Members of the task force will discuss the findings and recommendations.

Broadband entertainment applications (such as digital audio and video) drive consumer demand for high speed Internet. This session will discuss how states can encourage the creation of digital content in ways that can promote economic and workforce development and help to bring broadband to underserved areas.
