New Member Orientation.  New member orientation is a crucial part of any legislature’s training program.  NCSL can help in many ways—from designing an entire orientation program to developing and presenting specific aspects of the curriculum.  For example, NCSL routinely conducts new member orientation sessions on member ethics, professional conduct, media relations training, skills for new committee chairs, and policy briefings on key state issues.  Of course, we are delighted to take part in orientations to describe how NCSL can help legislators be more effective at their work.

Build a Retreat! We know your professional development goals are not just directed at individuals, but also at the teams and groups that make things happen in your legislature.
