State legislative leadership staff from across the nation are heading to Indianapolis, Indiana this fall for the annual professional development seminar of the NCSL Leadership Staff Section. Here is your opportunity to "restart your engine" as you head into the exciting election season and the demanding 2009 legislative sessions that follow. Things are changing everywhere and this meeting offers you a special opportunity to ponder those trends, hone new skills and develop networks with colleagues in other states.

This meeting is designed by your colleagues who work in state legislatures, not by some far away consulting firm that does not understand legislatures or your work. The training agenda features a blend of classroom experiences, facilitated dialog, experiential tours and all-important "down-time" when you can really get to know people from other legislatures to build important professional networks and connections. You want to be the best you can be in your leadership staff role and this event is designed to help you get there.

Since 1975 the NCSL Leadership Staff Section (LSS) has been the convening place for leadership staff in the 50 states and territories of the U.S. In addition to it's newsletter, Leadership Staff Connections, the LSS sponsors training at the NCSL Legislative Summit each summer and supports the professional development of its members. If you work for a state legislative leader or for a partisan caucus you are a member of LSS.
