Carmela Bills, Co-Chair, called the meeting to order. The minutes of the Spring Meeting in Arkansas were approved.
Jeff Finch gave a report on the International Program at NCSL on Monday, August 14. There were presenters from Virginia, Washington, Arizona, the Trust for Democracy and a computer company from Ireland, Propylon. Members of the Society felt the location should be changed. The room was entirely too big. It was also pointed out that we should look at our relationship with the International Section of NCSL. LSCC has requested that we inform NCSL of any contact we have with international guests. There was a suggestion to give the international guests information ahead of the meeting and that ASLCS would be glad to help.
Dave Avant, Chair of the Subcommittee for the 10 year reunion with ANOMAC, reported that the meeting would be August 24 to 26 in Cancun with 13 members and 5 spouses attending. ASLCS will be holding a reception for ANOMAC on Saturday evening. Plates will be presented to the Past Presidents of ANOMAC. The business meeting will be held on Saturday with 40 minutes designated for ASLCS members. A panel discussion on the role of the clerk will be presented by Denise Weeks, Judy Hall and Dowe Littleton. Carmela handed out packets regarding the agenda and vouchers for the hotel rooms along with phone numbers.
There was no old or new business. Laura Clemens moved the committee adjourn. Scott Kaiser seconded the motion and the meeting was adjourned.
