The Canadian-American Relations Committee met in Boston on March 19, 2005. Fifteen members of the committee were in attendance. They were:
Minutes: The meeting was called to order at 11:00 a.m. by Chairman Steve James. Minutes of the last meeting were approved. Steve James brought up an idea contributed by ASLCS President Bruce Jamerson to have a concurrent session at the Professional Development Seminar in Springfield, Illinois that would consist of a panel of US and Canadian clerks with the topic to be the differences in our respective procedures. The committee indicated that this idea was worth pursuing. Members are to contact Steve if they are interested in participating. Denise Weeks was asked to check with our Canadian friends to see if any of them would be attending that meeting and would like to participate. All of the photos from our Joint Meetings have been scanned. Brad Hendrickson agreed to convert them for use in a slide presentation. Brad reported that Washington state and Victoria, BC, have been having intern exchanges and that the program is working very well. Steve James is working with Paul Campos (WA) on a possible day trip to Victoria during the NCSL Annual Meeting in Seattle. Brad Hendrickson will help with this. The Joint Canadian-American Meeting will be October 11-16, 2005 in Edmonton, Alberta. |
