RE:        ASLCS Spring Business Meeting

The 2008 ASLCS Spring Meeting will be held in Asheville, North Carolina, March 28 to March 30. The Spring Meeting is a business meeting at which the Executive Committee and ASLCS Committees will meet to continue their work for the year.   Click here to view the preliminary agenda

HOTEL RESERVATIONS

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Renaissance Asheville Hotel, 31 Woodfin Street, Asheville, North Carolina 28801. Each attendee is responsible for making his/her own hotel and travel arrangements. The phone number for the Renaissance is 828-252-8211 (direct) or 800-468-3571 (toll-free). When making hotel accommodations, please indicate that you are attending the ASLCS Spring Meeting to receive the conference room rate of $165 single/double per night (excluding tax). The cut-off date to receive the conference rate is Friday, March 1, 2008.

TRANSPORTATION

The Asheville Regional Airport is served by the following airlines: Continental, Delta, Northwest, United, and US Airways. For more information see the airport's website, at http://www.flyavl.com/. The Renaissance Asheville Hotel is approximately 15 miles or a 20 minute drive from the airport. The hotel does not provide shuttle service to and from the airport, and there are no on-site taxis or public transportation at the airport. The hotel has provided the attached list of taxi and transportation companies and phone numbers. You can use this list to schedule a pick-up either prior to or upon your arrival. Meeting attendees can contact the hotel's bellman to arrange transportation from the hotel to the airport.

Meeting attendees who wish to fly through alternate airports and drive to Asheville could consider traveling through Greenville, South Carolina (a 1 hour, 15 minute drive); Knoxville, Tennessee (a 2 hour drive); or Charlotte, North Carolina (a 2 hour drive).

ASHEVILLE INFORMATION

Asheville has been called "one of the most welcoming, vibrant cities in America" and was recently featured on ABC's 20/20 for being the country's "happiest city." Known for its beautiful mountain scenery, numerous art galleries, art deco architecture and thriving nightlife, Asheville proves to be an exciting destination for ASLCS!
