Florida Voters to Reconsider Term LimitsApril 20, 2005 On April 14, 2005, the Florida Legislature voted to refer a measure to the voters in the November 2006 election which would change Florida’s term limits from eight consecutive years in each chamber to 12 consecutive years. Florida will be the third state to ask voters to relax legislative term limits—voters in Arkansas and Montana rejected similar measures in the November 2004 election. Visit the Florida Legislature’s web site to view the measure and analyses. For more information on term limits, contact Jennie Drage Bowser in NCSL’s Denver office. |
