Leadership Institute - Inspiring Great Leaders
Loews Annapolis Hotel, Annapolis, Maryland
June 12-15, 2006
Leadership. It's the essential ingredient in the complex arena of the legislature. Moving beyond conflict and partisanship to meet the real needs of people is the fundamental test of legislative leadership. The future of the legislature depends upon the quality and creativity of the men and women who lead it today and those who will be its stewards in the future.
The National Conference of State Legislatures is pleased to announce the 12th Leadership Institute - Inspiring Great Leaders seminar. The Leadership Institute brings together some of the nation's foremost experts on leadership. In seminars, lectures and small group discussions participants will explore the paths and challenges to leadership. Professor James Clawson of the Darden Business School at the University of Virginia will conduct a day and a half session on leadership. Experienced legislative leaders will lead participants through lively discussions and provocative case studies, exploring common values and the future of the legislature in a setting designed to move beyond conflict and partisanship. Communications expert Susan Baile will lead an interactive workshop on crucial communication skills and strategies.
How to Nominate Participants
The Leadership Institute curriculum is designed for legislators who show outstanding leadership promise and the ability to effect change. Individuals who are nominated should be strongly committed to the legislative institution. They should demonstrate the potential to become a committee chair, floor leader, presiding officer or to assume a key role in developing important public policy. Current leaders may nominate themselves. Please complete and return the form below as indicated.
