These conferences featured expert advice in eliminating racial disparities in access to health care. More details about the conference are provided below.
The United States has become a very diverse nation with much of this change occurring in the last century. Although health indicators such as life expectancy and infant mortality have improved for most Americans, minorities still experience a higher share of preventable diseases, death and disability compared with non-minorities. This session offers state legislators, legislative staff and other participants strategies to reduce racial and ethnic health disparities and examples of current, innovative state programs and practices that lead to better health outcomes for minority populations.
