Promoting Children’s Mental Health Preconference
NCSL would like to announce an important half-day meeting to be held preceding NCSL Fall Forum in Chicago, Illinois on children’s mental health.: “Promoting Children’s Mental Health”. The meeting convenes at noon on Wednesday, December 7th and concludes at 3:45 p.m. at the Hilton Chicago. This meeting is supported by a generous grant from the MacArthur Foundation.
This meeting will focus on how state legislators can promote children’s healthy mental development in their states, and what programs work to treat children with emotional disturbances. Agenda topics include:
- Financing Comprehensive Mental Health Programs for Children
- Evidence-Based Treatment: What Works
- Promoting Mental Health Prevention
- Preventing Teen Suicide
Travel Guidelines:
Travel stipends of up to $750 for hotel stay, airfare and ground transportation are available; however, stipends are limited and will be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis. In order to receive a stipend, you must attend the full mental health meeting. Please do not make travel arrangements until we confirm your stipend award. If you have a stipend to attend the Health Chairs or Future Leaders Meeting, please note that you will not be eligible to receive two stipends. We will coordinate stipends for the three meetings so the greatest number of people can attend.
