Birth Defects Registries: A Resource for ResearchNovember/December 2003 LegisBrief. Approximately
one in 28 infants in the United States is born with a birth defect. Forty-five
states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico have or are in the process of
developing birth defects registries.
