NCSL is excited to launch a year-long project “Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opiate Addiction (MAT).” NCSL will partner with the Avisa Group to inform state legislators, legislative staff, and other interested parties about state actions and policies regarding medication-assisted treatment for opiate addiction and the public financing of that treatment. This website will serve as a central clearinghouse and resource center within NCSL for comprehensive information on all aspects of medication-assisted treatment for opiate addiction and the public financing of that treatment. We hope to significantly raise the level of awareness and information among legislators and legislative staff.

The MAT listserv delivers to subscribers the monthly newsletter, updates to the project website, and periodic announcements about state policy related to medication-assisted treatment for opiate addiction. Click here to subscribe now.
50 State Tables
NCSL and Avisa surveyed the SSA Directors, State Methadone Authorities and Medicaid Directors in the 50 states about states policies regarding medication-assisted treatment for opiate addiction and the public financing of that treatment. These tables contain their answers and describing each state’s policies.

Issue Briefs
The MAT issue briefs are quarterly publications providing analysis of key issues in medication-assisted treatment for opiate addiction and the public financing of that treatment.
